Al-Azizia reference: IHC to hear appeals against Nawaz Sharif's conviction today

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Islamabad High Court s(IHC) will hear the appeals filed by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif against his conviction in the Al-Azizia Al-Azizia Steel Mills corruption reference on Thursday.

Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mian Gull Hassan will hear the appeals.

In 2018, an accountability court had awarded prime minister Nawaz Sharif seven years in jail in the Al-Azizia Steel reference, but acquitted him in a second reference related to Flagship Investments.

The court had also fined Nawaz Rs1.5 billion and US$25 million in the Al-Azizia reference.
