Appointing Maryam as PML-N’s VP is violation of SC’s verdict: FM

MULTAN (92 News) – Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mehmood Qureshi said on Sunday that he surprised over appointing Maryam Nawaz as PML-N’s vice president (VP) which goes in violation of the Supreme Court’s verdict. Talking to the journalists in Multan, the minister said that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was granted bail on the base of humanity so he should have to present himself before law as per the Supreme Court orders.

Opp to be taken into confidence over IMF bailout package

Responding to the opposition’s criticism, Qureshi said that the incumbent government was being blamed by the persons who had also reached out to International Monetary Fund (IMF). The PML-N and PPP led government had reached out to IMF for a bailout package earlier,” he reminded. Pointing towards corruption of previous governments, Qureshi said, “Going to IMF is the result of wrongdoing made in previous 10 years.” He said that the government is in talks with the IMF officials, however, its details will be shared after reaching to a conclusive end.

Petroleum products’ prices hiked to prevent fiscal deficit

Reacting on sudden hike in prices of petroleum, he stated if it had not been done, Pakistan’s current account deficit would have increased, and the decision was taken upon the recommendation of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC). Commenting on reshuffling of members within the federal cabinet and other departments, Qureshi said that the PML-N has also changed a few of its members. “It is the right of every political party to shuffle its members,” he went on to say.

PPP expresses reservations over newly-appointed PAC chairman

However, he maintained that the PPP has expressed certain reservations over the appointment of Rana Tanveer as the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC). “The party is of the opinion that it was not consulted over the matter,” he added.

PML-N can inform about return of Shehbaz

To a question, FM Qureshi said that PML-N leadership can give authentic information regarding the return of Shehbaz Sharif. Rejecting rumours, the minister rejected reports of running a silent faction into ruling political party. “My group is only Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), not a separate one neither inside nor outside the party,” he clarified.

Asad Umar an asset of PTI

He said that former finance minister Asad Umar was an asset of PTI and he will be. He further said that the leader was proposed petroleum ministry over his abilities.
