Biggest issues of inflation, international payments being solved through IMF programme: SBP governor

KARACHI (92 News) - State Bank of Pakistan Governor Jameel Ahmed has said that the biggest problem for the country's economy is inflation and the burden of international payments, which is being solved through the International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme.
Addressing a ceremony held to launch a commemorative banknote of Rs75 on the 75th Foundation Day of the SBP on Tuesday, he said that they had reduced the difference of in the dollar rate of interbank and open market.
"We hope the country will receive remittances in the legal way. A ban on import has been lifted," he added.
He said that a new currency note had been issued to strengthen the banking system. "There is no cartelization in the dollar. Now the dollar supply will improve," he added.
