ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto has demanded the formation of a parliamentary commission on the powers of the Supreme Court.

Expressing his views in the National Assembly on Wednesday, he said that the chief justice should have not powers to announce any verdict without the approval of judges just like the prime minister cannot make any decision without the approval of the cabinet.

"The parliament should have power to decide how much should comprise a bench for any case. Is it possible that sins of 70 years can be pardoned by one-night neutrality," he maintained.

The minister said that it was time that they should do legislation for the defence of the constitution.

Meanwhile, the National Assembly unanimously passed a resolution for a joint parliamentary committee for judicial reforms.

In the resolution, it has been stated that the constitution divides the powers among legislature, executive and judiciary. No pillar of the state can interfere in the powers of each other. Under the Article 175A, the parliament has power to endorse the appointment of the apex court judges.

The resolution stated that the parliament will not give the power to any institution to exceed its powers.
