COAS Gen Bajwa played important role in Pak-Saudi ties

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The role of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa played a very important role in furthering ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia relations. The army chief’s visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on August 22, 2018 had undertaken some important decisions. While Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman maiden visit to Pakistan is also connected to the COAS visit. As Pakistan gears up to take relations with the Saudi Arabia to ‘new heights’, Saudi crown prince has arrived in Pakistan on a maiden visit to the country on Sunday (today). For his two-day visit, the crown prince is accompanied by a high-powered delegation, including members of Saudi Royal family, key ministers and leading businessmen. General Qamar Javed Bajwa had met the Saudi crown prince, as the latter had invited him for an audience. The Inter-Services Public Relations, in its release, had said the two leaders had dinner at Mina. The prince congratulated Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Bajwa for performing hajj. They discussed wide-ranging issues of mutual interest, including regional security. “Prince Mohammad Bin Salman expressed his strong optimism about [the] success of Pakistan in defeating [the] challenges at hand,” said the release tweeted by DG ISPR Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor . He also expressed best wishes for the newly elected government in Pakistan. The COAS thanked the prince for his wishes and support.

A historic moment as His Highness, the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed Bin Salman is received by Prime Minister Imran Khan on his arrival at Nur Khan Air Base. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman arrived in Pakistan on a two-day historic visit on the invitation of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Pakistan rolled out red carpet for the red carpet for Mohammed Bin Salman. Red carpet presented at the Noor Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi, where the prince’s plane arrived. The carpeted stairs were transported to the airbase from the Islamabad Airport. Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, Prime Minister Imran Khan among his cabinet received the crown prince at Noor Khan Airbase. 21-gun salute presented to crown prince
The Saudi crown prince was given a 21-gun salute. The prime minister drove the crown prince to PM’s House himself, as same like he did with the UAE crown prince.
Welcome ceremony
A welcome ceremony was held at the Prime Minister’s House upon arrival Saudi crown prince. The Saudi Crown prince was presented by the guard of honour by the troops of jointly forces. During the ceremony, the crown prince introduced his high-powered delegation with Prime Minister Imran Khan. The Saudi crown prince was warmly welcomed in airspace of Pakistan and a formation of JF-17 Thunder and F-16 fighter  jets escorted the jet of the crown prince when it entered the airspace of Pakistan. The security of the Saudi Crown Prince took care by Triple-1 Brigade. The Saudi crown prince accompanied by a high-powered delegation, including members of Saudi Royal family, key ministers and leading businessmen. The Saudi ministers accompanying the crown prince will meet their counterparts to discuss bilateral cooperation in their respective fields. It is worth mentioning here that this will be the first state-level visit of the dignitary to Pakistan since his elevation to the position of the Crown Prince in April 2017. Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa personally reached at Noor Khan Airbase to receive the special guest of Pakistan before his arrival.
