ECC approves import of 100,000 tons of urea

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet has approved immediate import of 100,000 tons of urea to facilitate farmers. The ECC, which held on Wednesday under the chair of Finance Minister Asad Umar, also decided to allow additional import of Urea in the event of any demand-supply gap. The ECC directed the Ministry of Industries and Production to review the price mechanism of fertilizer industry for ensuring provision of urea to farmers at cheaper rates. The committee directed the relevant institution to check market manipulation activities in the fertilizer sector and use all the powers available under the law to penalize such behavior. The ECC was apprised by the Industries Division about the status of NAB cases against seven persons involved in corruption in Pakistan Steel Mills. Interior Division informed the meeting that the name of seven persons have been recommended for placement on exit control list (ECL).
Utility Stores Corporation informs about Ramazan Package
Giving presentation to the committee, Utility Stores Corporation informed about preparations for the Ramazan Package. ECC directed the Industries Division to ensure that in Ramazan package is implemented effectively and the intended relief is passed on to consumers. ECC also constituted a sub-committee to review supply and demand situation of essential food items to ensure stable prices in the country. Approval to Fuel Supply Agreement b/w PSO, State Oil Company of Azerbaijan It accorded approval to Fuel Supply Agreement between Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and State Oil Company of Azerbaijan. The Committee also considered and approved various proposals for Supplementary and Technical Supplement Grants.
ECC approves grant for payment to heirs of late petroleum staff
Earlier, the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) approved a supplementary grant of forty-six million and four hundred thousand rupees for the payment to families of deceased employees of the Petroleum Division. Minister for Finance Asad Umar chaired the ECC meeting on Tuesday in Islamabad. In the meeting, the committee approved proposal of Finance Division to place a summary before the federal cabinet for 200.075 million rupees supplementary grant to the government of Baluchistan as the federal govt share for Peaceful Baluchistan Policy. The meeting approved supplementary grant of 11.441 million rupees to the ministry of privatization to meet expenses on relocation of its offices.
