ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Saturday rejected SIC candidate Mahmood Khan Achakzai's plea for postponement of the presidential candidate.

In the written verdict, it stated that the elections of the National and provincial elections were held on February 8. "It was mandatory to hold the presidential election within 30 days of the general elections as per constitution," it declared.

The ECP said that according to the constitution, the electoral college means the parliament and provincial assemblies. "The presidential election cannot be stopped by terming the electoral college incomplete. The prime minister and chief ministers have been elected on the same pattern," it stated.
