Eidul Fitr in Pakistan tomorrow as Shawwal moon sighted

KARACHI (92 News) – Pakistani nation will celebrate Eidul Fitr on Wednesday, June 05, as Shawwal moon has been sighted in Pakistan. This was announced by Chairman Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman in Karachi today. The announcement regarding moon sighting was made after testimonies were received from different parts of the country. Besides the central committee, zonal committees also held their meetings in major cities of the country to collect testimonies regarding the sighting of Shawwal moon. Testimonies regarding sighting of moon were received from Faisalabad, Kashmore, Rahim Yar Khan, Lahore, Sadiqabad, Pasni, Kamra, Ghotki, Bahawalpur, Sui, Quetta, Shikarpur and other parts of the country, according to Mufti Muneeb. The evidence of moon sighting was received from Loralai district of Balochistan. Speaking to the journalists, Muneeb ur Rehman has warned the KP chief minister and information that the religion is not come under the 18th Amendment. He said that the Eidul Fitr must be celebrated across the country including Hazara, Swat and other areas. The Ruet-e-Halal Committee chairman said that the KP government celebrated the Eid all over the province officially. He termed that the ministers wanted to create space between the government and the religious leaders. He further mentioned that the armed forces are busy to defend the country and they also want to support them. Comprising religious scholars and Met Office Officials, the committee makes its decision on the basis of evidence received from across the country.

According to the notification of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Mufti Munib-ur-Rehman chaired the meeting.

The meetings of zonal and district Ruet-e-Hilal committees held today at their respective headquarters for collecting evidences in respect of sighting or other wise of the Shawwal moon. The meeting of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) committee held at Ministry of Religious Affairs, near General Post Office (GPO) Islamabad. At the end of the meeting, Mufti Muneeb announced that Eidul Fitr will be observed on Wednesday (tomorrow) as the Shawwal moon sighted. Special prayers will be offered for the progress and prosperity of the country and welfare of the Muslim Ummah. Prayers will also be offered for early liberation of occupied Muslim territories including Kashmir and Palestine. In the federal capital, the main Eid congregation will be held at the Faisal Mosque where top government officials and envoys of Muslim countries will offer Eid prayers along with hundreds of people. Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in different parts of the country including the federal capital to avoid any untoward incident on the auspicious occasion.
