ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Farmers are facing a severe water crisis as the shortfall is expected to reach 40 percent this year .

According to the inside story of the Indus River System Authority (IRSA) Advisory Committee meeting regarding water distribution and availability, the provinces have given wrong statistics about the distribution of water in the provinces.

A fact-finding committee has been established to control the water theft. The sources said that the alleged incompetence of WAPDA, low snowfall and large amount of water theft have been blamed for the impending water crisis in the country.

They added that the WAPDA could not complete the construction of Tarbela Dam expansion projects on time and as a result, 85,000 cusecs of water will not be released. "30,000 cusecs of water will not be released due to wrong designing of T-4 project," the meeting was told.
