ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry said on Thursday that the Police Act of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) will be used as a model to bring reforms in Punjab Police.
Briefing the journalists about a federal cabinet meeting, the info minister said that the meeting also underscored the need for training to change the police culture in the province.
It is pertinent to mention here that Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan presided over a meeting of the federal cabinet and reviewed a 17-point agenda .
Fawad Chaudhry said that the meeting decided that one hundred police stations in Punjab will be made model police stations. He also said the Police Act of KPK will used as a model to bring reforms in Punjab Police.
The minister said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed to provide speedy justice to affected family in Sahiwal incident. “The prime minister also emphasized to send the challans of those involved in the incident to courts on immediate basis,” he said.
Fawad informs cabinet decisions
Fawad Ch announced that the federal cabinet approved the summary of the members of Pemra Council. “Muhammad Ahmad Pansota and Sehar Zareen Bandial have been included in the Pemra council of Lahore while the Balochistan Pemra chairman appointed as Abdul Jalil and Hamyun Barakzai, Rehana Khilji, Muhammad Rafeeq would be included its member.
The federal minister confirmed that the cabinet approved the finance of EOBI Pension while gave granted worth of Rs58 billions to Pakistan Mortgage Refinance Company (PMRC) for construction of homes. The cabinet meeting decided to merge Earthquake Risk Assessment (ERA) to National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), he added.
To a question regarding the government’s policy about the retirement of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), the information minister said that the National Assembly speaker would work for this purpose.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan chaired a high-level meeting in Islamabad on Thursday in connection with reforms in Punjab Police. The meeting was attended by Information Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Khan Afridi, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar and others.
