KASUR (92 News) - A flood in the Sutlej River broke the 35-year record, inundating several residential areas.

Owing to the flood, hundreds of people were trapped. The floodwater wreaked havoc in the areas, including Kamalpura, Azizabad, Fittiwala, Bhikiwind, Kallu Wara and Dhoop Sari.

The water inflow of 140,000 cusecs was recorded after 1988. Several dykes broke due to the floodwater that entered the crops.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert, saying more water is expected in the next few hours.

The authorities cautioned the flood level can be turned into high. "About 240,000 cusecs of water has been released in the Sutlej River by India. It is likely to reach Ganda Singhwala in a few hours," they alarmed.
