FM leaves for Geneva to present case of Kashmiris

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mehmod Qureshi on Monday left for Geneva to present the case of Kashmiris at the 42nd session of UN Human Rights Council. Shah Mehmood Qureshi will represent Pakistan at the 42nd session of UN Human Rights Council beginning in Geneva. The session will continue for three weeks. The foreign minister will change the world’s attention towards ongoing situation of Indian Occupied Kashmir after India’s unilateral India's unilateral and non-constitutional steps to abrogate Article 370. He will also raise the concerns and security threats to region after Indian atrocities in occupied valley. Earlier, chairing the second meeting of Kashmir Cell in Islamabad, Fm Qureshi said he will present the case of innocent Kashmiris to the representatives of world community. He termed that he would shake the global conscience on serious human rights abuses in occupied Kashmir. On the other hand, curfew and lockdown continued at 36th day today (Monday) in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK) from August 5 when Narendra Modi government announced scraping of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. The occupied territory continued to reel under strict military siege on the 36th consecutive day as all markets are closed while transport is off the road. There is no internet and mobile phone service in the Kashmir valley, which remains cut off from the rest of the world since August 5. Patients are scrambling for medicines while doctors are facing immense difficulties to reach the hospitals.

People injured who participate in Muharram processions

Several people were injured after Indian troops resorted to brute force on the people who defied curfew and other restrictions and participated in Muharram processions in different areas of the territory. At least 12 participants were injured as the troops used pellet guns and fired teargas shells to stop the traditional Muharram processions in Srinagar and Badgam districts. Six troops were also reportedly injured during the clashes. Scores of mourners were arrested by the Indian forces. There have been frequent clashes for the past many days as troops have been trying to block the processions.
