ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chattha backtracked from his previous statement, saying that he had given the statement regarding rigging in the elections on the persuasion of a political party.

In his statement given to ECP Inquiry Commission on Thursday, he said that his statement was irresponsible and disinformation.

He apologized to the bureaucracy and the nation. "I was worried about my future and ending of my privileges after the retirement. On February 11, I held a meeting with the office-bearer of a particular political party who advised me to level the allegations of rigging in exchange of a high office," he disclosed.

Chattha said that he had used the name of the chief justice deliberately. "I take responsibility of my words and act and surrender myself to the legal action," he added.
