Gold rates up by Rs3,800 to Rs234,800 per tola

ISLAMABAD (APP) - The per tola price of 24-karat gold witnessed an increase of Rs3,800 and was sold at Rs.234,800 on Friday as compared to its sale at Rs231,000 on the last trading day.

The price of 10 grams of 24 karat gold also increased by Rs3,258 to Rs201,303 from Rs198,045 whereas the price of 10 gram 22-karat gold went up to Rs184,528 from Rs181,541.

The price of per tola silver increased by Rs20 to Rs2,600 whereas that of 10g silver increased by Rs17.15 to Rs2,211.93. The price of gold in the international market increased by US$40 to US$2,254 from US$.2,214.

PSX loses 137 points

The 100-index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed bearish trend on Friday, losing 137.02 points, a negative change of 0.20 percent, closing at 67,005.11 points against 67,142.12 points the previous trading day.

A total of 313,035,305 shares valuing Rs.9.899 billion were traded during the day as compared to 421,118,268 shares valuing Rs16.159 billion the last day. Some 343 companies transacted their shares in the stock market; 136 of them recorded gains and 188 sustained losses, whereas the share prices of 19 remained unchanged.

Rupee gains 9 paisa against dollar

Pakistani rupee gained nine paisa against the US dollar in the interbank trading and closed at Rs277.94 against the previous day’s closing of Rs278.03. The buying and selling rates of the dollar in the open market stood at Rs278 and Rs280.75 respectively.

The price of the Euro decreased by 44 paisa to close at Rs299.55 against the last-day closing of Rs299.99.

The Japanese Yen remained unchanged and closed at Rs1.83, whereas an increase of 28 paisa was witnessed in the exchange rate of the British Pound, which was traded at Rs350.86 compared to the last closing of Rs350.58. The Emirates Dirham and the Saudi Riyal decreased by 03 paisa and 02 paisa to close at Rs 75.68 and Rs 74.11 respectively.
