Government not serious in building Dam, CJP tells Asad Umar

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar, during an exchange with Finance Minister Asad Umar on Tuesday, told that the government is not serious in constructing dams.
A bench headed by the chief justice heard a case pertaining to the construction of Nai Gaj Dam. Asad Umar appeared before the court.
On conversation with the finance minister, the chief justice remarked, “You people cannot work and your love for the country has lessened. We wanted the matter to be resolved and it does not seem that the government is serious about the construction of the dam.”
“We don’t want to dictate this government nor do we want to run it. We have worked for fundamental human rights,” the chief justice said. To reply, the finance minister said, “I acknowledge your role and history will remember you for your part in the construction of dams.”
“ECNEC is scheduled to meet on January 25 and we will discuss the matter during the meeting,” the minister added.
The bench then directed Umar to apprise the court immediately after the meeting regarding the decisions taken by ECNEC. The court then adjourned the hearing of the case for two weeks.
