ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The government has promised to reduce the shutdown duration to two hours by June 30.

This was stated by Shahid Khaqan Abbasi during a joint press conference on Monday.

He said that the loadshedding will start reducing in the country from Tuesday (tomorrow). "The demand is over 25,000 megwatts. We have increased the power generation to 21,000 megawatts," he added.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that the government is trying to overcome the power crisis. "We still face a shortfall of 4,000 megawatts and the shutdown was being observed due to it," he maintained.

He said that even one percent tax had not been imposed on the POL products, which will not be sold at the cost price. "We cannot sell POL products at the reduced prices. Two big plants producing cheap electricity could not be completed. The story of corruption and incompetence of the former government is very long," he added.
