ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa has said that they had heard the case against the Lahore High Court (LHC) order at night as a single verdict could derail the elections before going on leaves.

Addressing the full court reference on Friday, he said that they had asked another senior judge to sit with them after Justice (retd) Ejazul Ahsan recused himself from the case and announced the verdict at 12 night. "The elections could have derailed on the date given the President and ECP if it had not happened," he added.

The CJP said that he had expressed his opinion on the intra-court appeals in the military courts. "Justice Sardar Tariq Masood had not given opinion in the military courts case and re refused to sit in the bench after an objection was raised against him," he added.

He said that they understand the vacant seats of judges in the Supreme Court and amendments to rules with regard to the appointment of judges were under consideration.

The chief justice said that Justice Sardar Tariq Masood had played a key role in the Practice Procedure Committee.
