Imran Khan remanded in NAB custody for eight days in Al-Qadir Trust case

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - An accountability court remanded PTI chairman Imran Khan in the custody of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for eight days in the in the Al-Qadir Trust case on Wednesday.

Earlier, the NAB had sought the 14-day physical remand of Imran Khan who was produced in court amid tight security. The court had reserved the judgment on the NAB plea.

The PTI counsels opposed the remand and contended that the case is not in the domain of the NAB. "The trial of Imran Khan should be held in the open court as per law," they stated.

PTI chairman Imran Khan told court that he was not shown the warrants at the time of his arrest. However, the prosecutor denied the statement of Imran Khan and stated that he was arrested after showing the arrest warrants.

Imran Khan also consulted his legal team before the hearing.

The Islamabad Police Lines has been given the status of the guest house. The authorities had shifted Imran Khan to Police Lines Headquarters after declaring it a sub-jail. A heavy contingent of police has been deployed at the Police Lines for security.
