LAHORE (92 News) - The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday accepted the petitions seeking removal of Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz for hearing.

Chief Justice Muhammad Ameer Bhatti heard the three petitions, including those filed by Chaudhary Pervez Elahi and PTI's Sabteen Khan.

During the hearing, Ali Zafar, on behalf of the petitioners, argued that Hamza Shehbaz has lost his majority after the Supreme Court decision. “Under Article 134, 186 votes are required to be elected as Leader of the House. If not the first time then next time a simple majority is required. The Supreme Court has interpreted Article 63A. Hamza Shehbaz has no legal justification to remain in office. Court should order to remove him from office.”

The court sought a reply from the parties, including Hamza Shahbaz on May 25. It also allowed the petitions for hearing and remarked that the decision of the Supreme Court regarding the dissidents would be implemented.
