LHC acquits PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi in ephedrine case

LAHORE (92 News) - The Lahore High Court (LHC) acquitted PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi in the ephedrine case on Wednesday.

A division bench headed by Justice Aalia Neelum had reserved the verdict on Tuesday.

The trial court had awarded life imprisonment to former MNA Hanif Abbassi in the case besides a fine of Rs one million. He had challenged the verdict of the trial court.

Talking to the media after his acquittal. Hanif Abbasi said that he had faced the trial for 11 years and served jail for 11 months. "Now I will contest the opponents in the elections," he added.

PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif said that it was acquittal from the lie which Nawaz Sharif faced for several years.
