LAHORE (92 News) - A miscellaneous petition was filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) against the Official Secret (Amendment) Act on Monday.

The federal government, Law Ministry and Interior Ministry have been made the party in the petition.

The petition filed by Muhammad Muqsat advocate sought suspension of the Official Secret Act till final verdict on the act. He contended that the act was not passed in the right way and the act was also against the constitution.

He stated that law enforcement agencies have been given unconstitutional powers in the act. "Under the Act, law enforcement agencies can enter any house without warrant. It is not mandatory to produce the arrested person before a magistrate. The Articles 4-19A grant citizens basic rights to citizens," he contended.

He demanded that the act should be suspended.
