LHC to hear Aleem Khan’s bail plea on Mar 20
LAHORE (92 News) – A Lahore High Court (LHC) division bench would hear the bail petition of former senior provincial minister Abdul Aleem Khan in the offshore companies and assets case on Wednesday (Mar 20).
The division bench comprising Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan and Justice Mirza Viqas Rauf would hear the bail petition.
Abdul Aleem Khan had filed the petition through his counsel Barrister Syed Ali Zafar, submitting that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested him in connection with an assets case, despite the fact that he extended complete cooperation to NAB authorities in investigations.
In the plea, he contended that all charges levelled against him were baseless and the bureau did not have any evidence against him.
He contended that the case was fabricated and pleaded with the court to grant him benefit of bail, as investigations had been completed in the case and no more confinement was required.
Aleem Khan’s remand extended in assets beyond income case
Accountability Court Syed Najamul Hassan extended the judicial remand of former provincial minister Abdul Aleem Khan in the assets beyond income until April 2.
The court asked the NAB officials to give the date about filing the reference. After the hearing, the authorities shifted him to Kot Lakhpat Jail.
The NAB prosecutor told court that the reference and the final report will be presented soon.
Talking to the media after the hearing, PTI leader Shoaib Siddiqui said that they would move the Lahore High Court for the bail of Aleem Khan. “Aleem Khan is running several charity organizations. The NAB has so far failed to provide any proof. We will be cleared of the charges,” he maintained.
Earlier on March 5, Accountability Court Judge Najamul Hassan sent Aleem Khan to jail on 15-day judicial remand in the assets beyond known sources of income.
