Martyrs of Peshawar APS tragedy remembered on 9th anniversary

ISLAMABAD (APP) - The 9th anniversary of the heinous terrorist attack on Army Public School Peshawar, claiming the lives of approximately 150 individuals, was observed across the country on Saturday.

The ruthless assault on December 16, 2014, orchestrated by militants, resulted in the tragic loss of over 140 lives, predominantly students and teachers.

Nationwide, various activities and events are underway to commemorate the sacrifices of the innocent children. On this solemn occasion, the entire nation, encompassing its leadership and civil society, pays homage to the martyred children and teachers, acknowledging their profound sacrifices.

In his message on the occasion, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to national, regional, and global peace. "The noble sacrifice of the children united the nation. We have won the war against terrorism," he added.

Paying glowing tributes to the APS tragedy victims, PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif said that December 16, 2014 is a day they can never forget. "Nine years ago today, our innocent children were targeted by terrorists. We salute the martyrs, their parents and families  and share their grief."

He said that a decisive war to end terrorism was launched under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif nine years ago. "Terrorists were wiped out through Zarb-e-Azb and Radul-Fasaad operations. Today we also pay tribute to the security forces who are fighting bravely and bravely to end terrorism," he added.

PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari described the Army Public School Peshawar massacre as a dark day in the national history, emphasizing that the memory of this horrific bloodshed remained vivid in the minds of every Pakistani. "We will not forget the martyrs or this tragedy. We stand by the families of victims of terrorism," he said.
