NAB chairman takes notice of hike in medicine prices
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman justice (retd) Javed Iqbal has taken notice of an hike in pharmaceutical drug prices and accusations of alleged corruption in the matter.
In his the statement, the anti-graft watchdog body chairman has directed the Rawalpindi NAB director general for an investigation into the matter.
The NAB chief said that pharmaceutical drugs are out of reach for common man after the hike in the prices while adding that drugs shortage is also reported.
The NAB head instructed to review every aspect of the matter and perpetrators should face harsh punishment.

Drugs’ prices to be brought down soon: Firdous Ashiq Awan
Earlier on Tuesday, the federal cabinet was informed that the prices of drugs would be brought down soon after consultation with all stakeholders.
This was stated by Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information Firdous Ashiq Awan during a press conference after the federal cabinet meeting.
The special assistant said that Special Assistant to PM on National Health Services Dr Zafarullah Mirza briefed the cabinet meeting on his findings regarding increase in prices of drugs.
Firdous Ashiq Awan also said a meeting with pharma companies and other stakeholders will be held soon to bring down the prices of medicines, so that people can afford their treatment.
