Five killed, shopping mall gutted in fire near Karachi's Ayesha Manzil

KARACHI (92 News) – Five people were killed while a complete shopping mall was gutted when a fire erupted in a foam shop near Ayesha Manzil on Wednesday night.

Over 200 shops and dozens of flats located on the upper storey of the building were reduced to ashes. Vehicles parked outside the shopping mall were also gutted. The building was sealed after the completion of the cooling process.

Firefighters and Pak Navy personnel extinguished the fire after hectic efforts.

Hundreds of affectees sitting under the open sky have appealed to the government to help them.

Meanwhile, Caretaker Chief Minister Mabool Baqar visited the affected building and assured all-out help to the affectees. He said that the building by-laws are often violated during the construction. "A strict action will be taken against the responsible people as well as those who failed to extinguish the fire due to negligence," he declared.
