Over 90 percent city drowns as heavy rains wreak havoc in Gwadar

GWADAR (92 News) - Over 90 percent city drowned due to unusual heavy rains under the influence of the climatic changes in Gwadar and adjacent areas.

Almost all roads, streets, localities and shopping malls were inundated due to the rainwater. People used boats to move from place to another. Life was totally disrupted.

During the rains, several houses and walls collapsed. Citizens are shifting to safer places on self-help basis.

Meanwhile, the flood-like situation also emerged at Gwadar Airport and as a result, the flight operation had to be disrupted.

The authorities said that the city had received 185mm rain and the residential areas have drowned. The flood-like situation has also emerged in Gwadar's twin cities Jewani and Sarbandan. Boats present in the coastal areas have also drowned.

The Pak Army is carrying out the rescue operation in the affected areas. The process to de-water the submerged areas is also going on. Ration and other necessary items are being distributed among the affected people.
