PML-N's Sardar Ayaz Sadiq elected as National Assembly speaker with 199 votes

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Sardar Ayaz Sadiq of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has been elected as the National Assembly speaker with 199 votes.

His rival Amir Dogar of the Sunni Ittehad Council bagged 91 votes.

National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf presided over the session. After the announcement of the results, MNAs congratulated Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. Sardar Ayaz Sadiq went to the seat of Amir Dogar and shook hand with him. Later, National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf administered the oath to the newly-elected Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq who assumed his responsibilities.   

On the other hand, PPP's Ghulam Mustafa Shah was elected as National Assembly deputy speaker with 197 votes. His rival Junaid Akbar of the Sunni Ittehad Council gained 92 votes. Later, Ghulam Mustafa Shah took the oath as the deputy speaker of the National Assembly.
