President Arif Alvi approves appointment of Anwarul Haq Kakar as caretaker PM

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - President Dr Arif Alvi approved the appointment of Anwarul Haq Kakar as the caretaker prime minister.

On the advice of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the president accorded approval to appoint Anwarul Haq Kakar as caretaker prime minister under Article 224 (1A).

Anwarul Haq Kakar will take oath as the caretaker prime minister after issuance of a notification by the Cabinet Division.

Anwarul Haq Kakar, a resident of Qila Saifullah District, belongs to the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP). He contested the National Assembly election on the PML-N ticket in 2002. Later, he became the spokesman for the Balochistan government during the tenure of Nawab Sanaullah Zehri in 2015.

He is one of the founding members of Balochistan Awai Party. He played an important role in the formation of the BAP. In 2018, he won as an independent candidate in the Senate elections and was elected as the parliamentary leader of Balochistan Awami Party in the Senate. He was elected a senator from Balochistan in 2018. Currently he is serving as the chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis.

Kakar received his primary education from Quetta. He received Master's degree in Political Science and Sociology from Balochistan University. He also remained a student of National Security Workshop at National Defence University. He has a command over Urdu, English, Balochi, Persian, Pashto and Barahvi languages.
