President Arif Alvi returns Election & NAB bills for review

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - President Arif Alvi returned the Election (Amendment) Bill and the NAB (Amendment) Bill, asking the parliament and committees to review the bills.

Objecting to the bill, President he said that both bills were not discussed in the parliament. The Article 46 was violated in the passage of the bills. "Through the amendment, mega corruption will be ended," he observed.

President Arif Alvi said that the use of the electronic voting machine (EVM) is essential for ending rigging and transparency in the elections. He said that both bills were passed in haste in the National Assembly on May 26 and in the Senate on May 27.

He said that the Article 17 of the Constitution gives the vote right to the overseas Pakistanis. "The amendment to the NAB Bill will bury the accountability process in Pakistan. The NAB amendments are against the Islamic jurisprudence. After the amendment, it will be impossible to get the money trail of illegal assets," he added.
