Prime Minister Imran Khan attends opening session of debate in UNGA

NEW YORK (92 News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan and his delegation on Tuesday attended the opening session of the debate in the UN General Assembly.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to United Nations Maleeha Lodhi and Adviser to the PM on Finance Abdul Hafeez Shaikh also accompanied him.

The 74th session of the UN General Assembly Session began at United Nations Headquarters in New York. The annual general debate of the United Nations General Assembly is the occasion for world leaders to discuss global issues. Theme of the general debate is 'galvanizing multilateral efforts for poverty eradication, quality education, climate action and inclusion.' Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan met with New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern on the sidelines of 74th UNGA Session in New York. Both premiers discussed anti-Islam challenges, including Islamophobia. Prime Minister Imran Khan apprised her of human crisis in Occupied Kashmir and a threat of a clash between two nuclear powers. He said that a big crisis would emerge after lifting of curfew in Occupied Kashmir. The prime minister also appreciated the leadership qualities of his New Zealand counterpart after the attacks on mosques. On the other hand, Prime Minister Imran Khan also met President of Ethiopia Sahle-Work Zewde. They discussed various measures to further enhance the bilateral relationship.
