Prime Minister Imran Khan says reforms in FBR inevitable

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that his 22-year struggle is meant for bringing the people of Pakistan out of poverty. Addressing a ceremony of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry on Thursday, he said that the West had adopted the golden principles of Islam. “The State of Madina was the first welfare state. The European states take responsibility of the people. They collected tax from the rich and gave a better life to the poor,” he said. “No one can defeat a nation which is united. Man can only make an effort.” The prime minister announced to remove the hurdles in the way of the business community. “We need good institutions to implement out thought,” he said. Prime Minister Imran Khan said that reforms in the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) are inevitable. “The businessman will have to think that giving tax is self-respect. There is need to develop the tax culture in Pakistan,” he said. PM Imran Khan said that they are bringing investors. “There is potential in Pakistan. Our financial deficit will be overcome by improving tourism,” he said. He said that he had talked to Razzaq Dawood to make the FBR business-friendly. The prime minister said that 62 people have wealth more than three billion people. “My top priority is to remove difficulties of traders,” he said. He said that the people do not pay taxes and how the country will make progress of the people would not pay the taxes. Imran Khan said the culture of tax evasion will also need to be changed. “If a nation does not pay taxes, it cannot enjoy freedom,” he added. The prime minister said that the government is facilitating the foreign and domestic investors alike by improving ease of doing business and a liberal visa regime to woo them to invest in many lucrative industries in the country. He expressed optimism that investment will increase in the country in the coming months. He said in order to narrow the current account deficit, steps are being taken to overcome money laundering. He said that the person giving false testimony is awarded three-year imprisonment in England.
