LAHORE (92 News) - The Punjab Assembly will elect the speaker at 4pm on Friday.

PTI's Sibtain Khan and Saiful Malook, a joint candidate of the PPP and the PML-N, will vie for the slot. The speaker will be elected through the secret voting.

Meanwhile, the House passed a resolution against Deputy Speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari, with a majority.

Talking to the media, PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qurehsi said that it was mandatory to send Dost Mazari home and the government was bringing a no-confidence motion against him.

He said that it was responsibility of Governor Baleeghur Rehman to administer the oath to the provincial cabinet and he should leave if he cannot do it.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the legal community thinks that the free judiciary is their need. "The governor should have administered the oath to the Punjab chief minister as per direction of the Supreme Court," he maintained.
