Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz orders a grand operation against power theft, smuggling & hoarding

LAHORE (92 News) - Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ordered the authorities to launch a grand operation against the power theft, smuggling and hoarding.

Chairing a meeting on Saturday, she said that zero-tolerance policy should be adopted against power theft, smuggling and hoarding. "Power theft is a non-cognizable offence. The people involved in power theft should be arrested and penalized. Action should also be taken against officials involved in the power theft," she ordered.

The Punjab CM said that billions of rupees being wasted in power theft should be spent on health, education and progress of the people.

The meeting also decided to form a task force comprising of experts and government representatives.
