Relief for masses as govt withdraws increase in power tariff up to 200 units

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The government on Tuesday withdrew the increase in the power tariff up to 200 units, giving a relief to the masses stricken by the inflation and hefty bills.
The federal cabinet granted approval on the directions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif through a circulation summary.
The relief has been given in the bills for July, August and September. The consumers will get a subsidy of Rs 50 billion. The power tariff of Rs3.95 per unit will remain unchanged for lifeline consumers up to 50 units, while rate for consumers using from 51-100 units will be Rs7.74.
Earlier, the federal cabinet had approved the increase of Rs 7.12 per unit in the basic tariff.
