SIC's Babar Saleem Swati elected as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly speaker

PESHAWAR (92 News) - Babar Saleem Swati of the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) has been elected as the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly speaker on Thursday.

He got 80 votes, while his opponent of the PPP secured 17 votes. Later, he took the oath and assumed his office.

Meanwhile, Surraya Bibi of the SIC has been elected as deputy speaker with 87 votes. Her ribal Arbab Waseem Hayat got 19 votes out of total 106 votes. No vote was rejected.

Meanwhile, the ruling alliance members raised a hue and cry when Sobia Shahid again waved a shoe in the House. Some members chanted slogans when he came to cast her vote for the speaker.
