Who will be the next President of country – Asif Zardari or Mahmood Achakzai?

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Election Commission of Pakistan on Tuesday submitted the nomination papers of PPP top leader Asif Ali Zardari and PkMAP chief Mahmood Achakzai for the presidential election schedule to be held on March 9.

Asif Ali Zardari enjoys the support of the alliance led by the PPP, the PML-N and others while the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) is backing Mahmood Achakzai.

In Islamabad, Farooq H Naik submitted the nomination papers of Asif Zardari in the Islamabad High Court. In Sindh, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah submitted the papers of Asif Zardari.

Meanwhile, Shamim Ahmed, a citizen, has also submitted the nomination papers for the presidential elections.

Candidates have the option to withdraw their nomination papers before the Returning Officer in Islamabad until noon on Tuesday (March 5).

On the same day, the list of candidates will be made public. Candidates can opt out of the contest by March 6, and polling is scheduled to take place from 10am to 4pm on March 9 at Parliament House in Islamabad and the provincial Assembly buildings in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, and Quetta.
