Wife, husband booked for torturing child maid in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI (92 News) – Punjab police have lodged a case against a couple for torturing an 11-year-old maid at their home in plaintiff of Child Protection Bureau. As per reports, a case was registered against government officer Ammara Riaz and her husband Dr Mohsin for allegedly torturing the child a day after the child shared her ordeal in a disturbing video. Kinza Bashir, was working at the house of Ammara Riaz in Rawalpindi where she was repeatedly beaten and denied basic rights. Speaking to the press conference, the city police chief said that a case was also registered at the Child Protection Bureau against the couple. He also said that they only came to know about the case after Kinza’s photos and videos went viral, creating a social media outcry on Saturday. The police officer said that the ASI concerned has already been suspended and a befitting action will be taken against him. According to initial medical report, the child was tortured periodically and carries wound marks all over her body, said Ahsan, adding that she also had a wound on her head, which needed three stitches. On Saturday, an 11-year-old domestic worker was severely tortured by a female officer and her husband in Airport police area. Kinza, the victim, was handed over to her father when her condition deteriorated. Bashir, her father, took her to their house in Summandari. The victim bears wound marks on her face, head and several other parts. The Rawalpindi CPO has taken notice of the incident. He suspended an ASI the Airport police station for not taking action against the couple. He said that action will be taken against the couple if they found guilty. In a tweet, Federal Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mizari said that action will be taken against the couple if they found guilty. She said that a police team has been sent to Summundari to bring back the victim and her parents. “We are keeping a close eye to ensure justice for the little girl,” she said.   Kinza was rescued by the Child Protection Bureau after her father, a native of Faisalabad, took her to Airport police station, but policemen did not register a complaint against the army officer. They even forced the father to take her injured daughter back to their hometown, Sumandari. However, the child maid’s images and statement on social media went viral, in which the child is seen showing wound marks on her face, arms, neck and head, which she said received at the hands of her employers.
