Yousafzai proposes to appoint Popalzai as Ruet-e-Halal Committee chairman

PESHAWAR (92 News) – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information Shaukat Yousafzai proposed to appoint Mufti Popalzai as Ruet-e-Halal Committee chairman for one day for Eidul Fitr. In a statement issued on Monday, the provincial minister said that Mufti Muneebur Rehman should be provided time to rest and appoint Mufti Popalzai as Ruet-e-Halal Committee chairman as most of his decisions prove right. “Eid is celebrated on one day all over Pakistan except a distinct area of KPK, we should stop this from happening,” he said. “I advise this so that Pakistan may have one Eid and begin and end religious occasions on an agreed day rather than having clashes and difference of opinion.” Mufti Muneeb was taken on call for his opinion on the subject where he said: “Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai can’t be enrolled in the government but what can be done is that the government can be given under his control so that everything that faces delay in the regime can be done beforehand, 24 hours before the deadlines.” When asked if the conflict can be quashed and a possibility of Mufti Popalzai’s ascension to the moon sighting committee chairman was a possibility, Mufti Muneeb denied all such speculation and said that this is a matter for the state to decide. Yousafzai emphasized that the conflict has caused undue duress in the KPK region, where an unneeded confusion takes over the place at times of religious occasions. Earlier, Chairman Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) Dr Qibla Ayaz has said that Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will remain a key part in determining moon-sighting and Eid despite the presence of a lunar calendar on Tuesday. He said the sighting of moon always decided in the light of the teachings of holy Quran and Hadith adding that any decision about the lunar calendar will be taken after Eidul Fitr. Qibla Ayaz said that the CII has received lunar calendar from the science ministry and research department of the council working on the matter. Dr Ayaz said he value the development of technology but the Ruet input is also necessary. He said the calendar informs about when and where the moon will be sighted. He said according to Quran and Hadith the new moon announced after it sighted as per the teachings of Islam.
