ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The tax amnesty scheme has been further delayed in the special meeting of federal cabinet under the chair of Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday here. In a tweet, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry said that the cabinet decided that some provisions need further fine tuning and therefore the matter is pended for the next cabinet meeting. 92 News obtained the information of special meeting. According to the source, the amnesty scheme was overviewed completely and this scheme will not be implemented for the people who involved in the fake accounts case. The source also said that this scheme will not be imposed for those people who had any seat related to public representative from 2000 while their family members could not able to get this facility. “Some cabinet members also opposed this condition,” it added. He said further improvement in some provisions of this scheme is needed. “The cabinet members questioned how this scheme would benefit people in current environment,” he added. It is decided that some provisions of the scheme need further fine-tuning, the minister said, adding that the matter would be taken up again at the next cabinet meeting. Prime Minister Imran Khan had convened a special meeting of the cabinet today after some of the ministers opposed the amnesty plan, expressed their reservations and sought further clarification at Tuesday s cabinet meeting.
Special meeting summoned for consultation on tax amnesty scheme
A day earlier, the special meeting was summoned for consultations on tax amnesty scheme, however, Prime Minister Imran Khan decided to brief the reason for amnesty scheme.

According to the details garnered, the federal cabinet could not decide about the tax amnesty scheme on Tuesday and decided to form a subcommittee under Finance Minister Asad Umar to review the matters.

PM Imran Khan called a special meeting to review the objections of cabinet members on April17. After the cabinet meeting, talking to the journalists, Information Minister Chaudhry Fawad said the cabinet decided to further discuss Asset Declaration Scheme, and a meeting to this effect has been convened by the prime minister tomorrow. The sources said that the cabinet asked how this amnesty scheme was different from previous one. The members said how they can now defend this scheme where they were earlier criticizing the scheme. The cabinet members find it difficult to convince people about the positive results of this new amnesty scheme. They said a thorough discussion should be held on the matter. The sources further said that FBR put three suggestions to turn Black money white and for new tax reforms.
