THAR (92 News) – PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari inaugurated the 660MW Thar Coal Field Power plant on Wednesday. He also inspected different departments and phases of the project. Addressing the ceremony, he said that the Thar project was initiated by Benazir Bhutto Shaheed. “Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto got this land back for us,” he said. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTZggVyWnMo He claimed that the government had formed a model village in Thar. “The CPEC will be successful if this model was used across the country,” he added. The PPP chairman complained that the federal government is not giving them due resources and amount. “It is our wish to see progress and employment in Thar,” he added. He expressed the resolve to improve the condition of schools and hospitals. “Sindh is at No 6 with regard to performance in Asia,” he claimed. Bilawal Bhutto said that the Thar Coal project is the biggest one in the country. “The manifesto of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto was the public-private partnership,” he said. He said that the PTI claimed to construct 200 dams in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but failed to give a single megawatt to the national grid. He announced to open a campus of NED University in Thar. He also announced to give free electricity to Islamkot. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said that they were intimidated, but they did not take the U-turn. “We have spent US$700 million on the project,” he said.
