LAHORE (92 News) - Lahore High Court Chief Justice Shahzad Ahmed has said that they do not want a fight with the government; however, it takes two to make a quarrel.

Addressing a ceremony at Judicial Academy on Friday, he said that the government should expect respect from the judiciary if it does not respect it. “We will not become the B team of the government or some another institution,” he added.

He urged the lawyers to avoid rifts as the bar-bench quarrel weakens the judiciary.

The LHC CJ disclosed that about 1.4 million cases are pending at the district level in Punjab. “Currently the provincial judiciary has 1,760 judges, including the newly-appointed judges. The judiciary still has scarcity of 800 officers,” he added.

He said that the video link facility would be available for the court proceedings soon.
