ECP rejects nomination papers of PTI's Sanam Javed for Senate elections

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Saturday rejected the nomination papers of Sanam Javed of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for the Senate elections on Saturday.

Announcing the verdict on the application, the Punjab election commissioner refused to accept the signature of Sanam Javed's father in place of her. He ruled that it was not ECP's duty to get the signatures of the candidates from jails.

The jail authorities had not allowed to get her signatures from jail.

Meanwhile, Zulfi Bukhari submitted his nomination papers through his representative.

On the other hand, the nomination papers of Ijaz Minhas have been submitted. PTI's Dr Yasmin Rashid is a candidate for the technocrat seat in the Senate elections. On the general seats, Umar Sarfraz Cheema and Ijaz Minhas have been nominated as covering candidates.
