ECP to issue schedule and public notice for president's election on Mar 1

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will issue a schedule and a public notice for the president's election on March 1.

According to a statement issued by the ECP on Tuesday, all assemblies will come into being on February 29 and thus the required electoral college for the president's election will be completed.

"According to Article 41(4) of the constitution, it is mandatory to conduct the election for president after 30 days of the general elections. Only one day – expectedly March 2 – will be reserved for submitting the nomination papers to the presiding officers by 12 noon," it announced.

It said that the candidates could get the nomination papers from Islamabad ECP Secretariat as well as provincial election commissioners in Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
