Evacuation of thousands of people have started from coastal areas: Sindh CM

KARACHI (92 News) - Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has said that the evacuation of thousands of people have started from the coastal areas keeping in view of the cyclonic storm Biperjoy.

He was presiding over an important meeting regarding the cyclone on Monday. He said that 60,000 people are being evacuated from three areas of Sajawal. "The Pakistan Army is also providing full assistance in the evacuation of the people. 14,000 people have been evacuated from Keti Bandar. It is our top priority to save human lives," he added.

Murad Ali Shah said that Sajawal district is likely to be affected most by the cyclone. "Relief and medical camps have been established. However, the direction of the storm is changing. Currently it is not hitting Karachi. But 60mm of rain is predicted in Karachi in half an hour," he added.

He said that the work of clearing drains and removing billboards has started. "Seventy damaged buildings are also being cleared."

Murad Ali Shah had an aerial view of Sajawal, Thatta and Badin coastline and reviewed arrangements.
