LAHORE (92 News) - The family of a young gardener, who was allegedly tortured by North Cantt police and later died at Services Hospital on late Monday, lodged a protest outside the police station early on Tuesday. The victim's family gathered outside the North Cantt police station in early hours to protest non-registration of a case against responsible police officers that eventually led to a case registration against the Investigation In-charge and his five subordinates. The family and heirs alleged that Aamir, who was a gardener by profession and worked in a house, was brought to the Services Hospital after his condition deteriorated in the police custody because of torture. Aamir-torture-protest Aamir himself appeared before the police to show his innocence in a theft case at a house where he worked, the family said. Police initially refused to lodge a case that led to a violent protest at Saddar Roundabout as protesters burnt tyres and blocked road for traffic. Policemen at near-by police station closed man door to avoid protesters' wrath. Among the protesters were Aamir's wife and a five-day-old son. After the Punjab police chief took notice of the incident and got an inquiry held, police registered a case against Investigation In-charge Nasir Baig, SI Zeeshan and five police constables on the complaint of victim's brother Sunny. The IG also ordered to suspect North Cantt circle DSP Ishtiaq Ahmad. IGP Arif Nawaz Khan has stated that the responsible cops after getting arrested would not only face criminal action but also will face departmental action. According to a Punjab police spokesman, police arrested II Nasir and also SHO Khurram Gull into custody. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eijmvab5Bjs
