Govt, army desire to hold talks with India for regional peace: Fawad Ch

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry on Friday said that the Pakistani government and the military desired to hold talks with India for regional peace. In an interview to BBC Urdu, Fawad Ch said that the Pakistan desired to hold talks with India for peace, but the incumbent government has not received any positive signals from India. He stressed that Imran Khan gave several indications about talks but no positive feedback has been received. The information minister announced that Pakistan will soon open the Kartarpur border for Sikh pilgrims. "The Sikhs will be allowed to visit Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur without having any visa. A system has been formed for the pilgrims entering Pakistan," he noted. "The Indian BJP-led government had taken votes in general election through anti-Pakistan campaign. So the real issue of Indian incumbent government is votes because if his government comes forward for friendship with Pakistan, then It may be lose their votes," Fawad Ch mentioned. He also said that the military leadership backs the government’s desire to hold talks. "Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa realised Pakistan cannot make progress alone," he mentioned. "The country’s progress linked with the development of the region, if there will be no peace in the region, every country will suffer, he added. To a question, the minister said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) policy pertaining to India is entirely different from the one adopted by the previous government. “In our policy, all the institutions are on the same page and share the same mindset,” he termed. Responding to the visit of a US delegation, the federal minister said that talks with the US delegation were open and straightforward. He also remarked that there was not as much of a difference between the stance of the US and Pakistan as perceived before the meetings were held. Commenting on rigging issue, Fawad told that the demand for the formation of parliamentary commission over the accusations of rigging in General Elections 2018 will be fulfilled before long. Earlier, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshis had said that Pakistan and India have no other option but to resolve all outstanding issues including the core issue of Kashmir through dialogue.
