Govt can't leave the poor at mercy of profiteers, says Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz

LAHORE (92 News) - Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has said that the government cannot leave the poor at the mercy of profiteers, adding that the recent trend in the reduction of prices is satisfactory and will not allow hoarding at any cost.

According to a report submitted to the Punjab CM, the process to distribute the 'Ramazan Nigheban Relief Package' among 2.832 million families has been completed and its digital monitoring has also been undertaken.

The CM directed to expedite the distribution process to the needy families under the 'Ramazan Nigheban Package', adding that transparency should be maintained in the distribution process.

Under instructions from the Punjab chief minister, the campaign against price-hike has been accelerated across the province. The price control magistrates launched 1,271 crackdowns against the profiteers.

Random checking has been undertaken at 773,000 sites in 15 days and 23,000 profiteers have been apprehended. A fine of Rs622 million has been imposed on the profiteers, while 1,682 FIRs have been registered and 4,858 people have been arrested.
