Interim President Arif Alvi can't announce election date: Attaullah Tarar

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - PML-N leader Attaullah Tarar has said that Interim President Arif Alvi cannot announce the election date as his tenure had expired on September 9.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, he said that the Article 58 had become ineffective after September 9. "Under the Election Act, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) can announce the election date," he said.

He said that the president wants to destabilize Pakistan.

In a statement, PML-N leader Marriyum Aurangzeb said that President Arif Alvi should give the date to vacate the presidency after the completion of his term.

She said that the puppet of those brought destruction to the country is hell-bent on bringing another constitutional crisis in the country.

"Enemies of people's development and livelihood are responsible for today's situation. Conspirators attack the country and people as soon as they get the opportunity. This is another nefarious attempt to create chaos, conflict and dirt in the country. Another May 9 is being prepared under the guise of a constitutional mandate," she maintained.
