PESHAWAR (92 News) - After the Punjab government, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has also banned the use of social media by police personnel on duty.

The KP police issued a letter to regional police officers (RPOs) and district police officers (DPOs) across the province, banning the use of social media platforms by police personnel.

Police officers and personnel were prohibited from using TikTok, Instagram, WhatsApp, YouTube, and other social media platforms while on duty.

The guidelines also prohibit uploading of police badges or other identifiable evidence on social media, highlighting concerns over violations of standard operating procedures (SOPs).

The letter notes that several officers have been found violating these SOPs, and it calls for departmental action against violators of the new policy.

The KP police leadership has stressed that the use of social media undermines the integrity of the police force and poses a threat to the safety of personnel.

It emphasised that the new policy aims to address these issues by ensuring strict implementation of SOPs and protecting the department’s reputation and operational security.
