LAHORE (92 News) – Justice Atir Mahmood of the Lahore High Court on Thursday recused himself from hearing the plea against Basant celebrations. He remanded the case to LHC Chief Justice Anwarul Haq. Safdar Shaheen Pirzada advocate, the petitioner, contended that the court had banned Basant as it became a bloody game. He said that it is against the constitution to allow an entertainment causing loss of precious human lives. “The government is allowing Basant to divert attention from public issues,” he added. He prayed to court to nullify the government decision to celebration Basant. Earlier, the Punjab government had announced to allow Basant celebrations in February.
